Happy New Years

I don't know about you, but I am ready to say goodbye to 2010 and openly welcome 2011.  My non-resolution to follow tomorrow.

Meet Joe Black

Last night Katie and I watched an edited version of Meet Joe Black and I fell in love all over again. Sigh, the writing is divine. One of my favorite parts is the advice the father gives his daughter about love.

I think about this every time I find myself settling just the tiniest bit.

2010 In Review

It's crazy to think about all of the things that can happen in a year. This time of year always brings reflection. I've been thinking over 2010's experiences and how they have changed me; in the words of the noisettes, "I'm not what I was last summer, not who I was in the spring."  Neither is our world.

In case you were in a coma the last year, here's what you missed.

Music Monday: Camille

Ta Douleur by Camille

Growing up next to the French Canadian border, many of the radio stations we recieved were french. While the majority of my friends despised it, I secretly loved it.  I always thought the French language added a sense of mystery to the songs and was often my choice when alone in my car.

So when my friend King posted this song to his "2010 Chris Mix", it made me happy happy!

PS. As I was looking for this video, my roomie Katie said to me "I love you and your random foreign language music."

Merry Christmas

Just in case you missed these....

A Christmas Motto

A personal thought about how the Christmas season should be lived. And I personally feel that the "drink" refers primarily to hot chocolate. With whipped cream since we're no longer dieting!

Lefse

My parents sent me lefse for my birthday!!!

Every family has holiday traditions and lefse is one of ours. I can remember my mom using the special spatula to flip the delicate flat-bread on our circular griddle for what seemed like hours. Lefse always reminds me of Christmas.  So, I wasn't the least bit sad it took so long for my birthday present to arrive; it was actually perfect timing. Opening the package to find lefse made me infinitely happy!!

Oh just so you know, Lefse is a Norwegian potato based flat bread that resembles a tortilla. You spread it with butter and brown sugar, roll it up and enjoy! Here's a photo:

2010 Gift Guide Goodness

I'm always amazed by my family.  How is it that 7 kids raised by 2 parents can have such different personalities? I love them each individually and I found some pretty amazing gifts for each of them this year. While I can't afford many of them, It's the thought that counts right?

Family, the upcoming posts are what I wish I could get you for Christmas this year!

Sending my love from Phoenix.

Passing by Life

I found this great video on swissmiss and absolutely loved it!  For me, it visually interpreted the idea of life passing by through the juxtaposition of the people's slow movements and the camera speeding by.  Anyways, I hope you love it as much as I do.
